Whether you prefer a social pub or a casual lounge, Belmopan has a few great places to enjoy an evening out.

  • The 822 Tavern – A new dining choice in Belmopan quickly being known for its pastas, seafood, steaks, and cozy atmosphere. The back patio converts into event space on weekends, as popular DJs and promoters host their events here.
  • Good View Restaurant – The restaurant is small but packs a lot of flavor! Ask for the BBQ Chicken Wraps! a must here. Their wings and pasta are also really good. The food is made fresh, so you will definitely enjoy.
  • Caladium Restaurant – A great spot for Belizean cuisine, known for its rice and beans and stewed chicken and fresh tortillas. Conveniently located directly in-front of the Belmopan bus terminal. It’s one of the corner stones to Belmopan’s culinary scene – operating over 15 years.
  • Everest Indian Restaurant – One of the few places in Belize where you can enjoy authentic Indian dishes. Ask for curry chicken or curry lamb, you can’t go wrong with either of these! and if you love spice, you can request that they make it extra spicy for you.
  • Cocogarden Restaurant – An Argentinian bar & grill serving up some scrumptious Argentinian flare. Ask for their “Argentinian Asado” (beef ribs) and pair it with a fine wine. This is a family-friendly restaurant, ran by an Argentinian family. It’s a little difficult to locate but well worth it.

  • El Rey Hotel – A budget-friendly hotel with comfortable rooms and friendly service.

  • Yim Saan Hotel & Restaurant – A convenient choice for travelers looking for comfortable accommodations near the city center.
  • Ian Anderson’s Cave Branch – a 30 minute drive from Belmopan, this jungle lodge is known for its adventure expeditions. Ask about the black sink hole, or an expedition to the cave of fertility, open only to Ian Anderson Cave Branch guests.

Best Time to Visit the Capital of Belize 🕑

The best time to visit Belmopan is during the dry season, which runs from November to May. The weather is warm and pleasant, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. The rainy season, from June to October, brings occasional heavy showers, but it also means lush greenery and fewer tourists.

Other great times to visit Belmopan is in April/May for the National Agriculture & Trade Show, Belize’s largest event in terms of attendees and exhibitors, featuring livestock exhibits, local food, entertainment, and some incredible promotions across different types of services and products.
